Vision Statement for the City of Detroit:

Pray and Hope for Detroit

My vision and His plan for the City of Detroit has never changed. Being a real estate broker with a medical training background made it easy for me to understand and see the vision: “All of us have vision that may see beyond where we now are.”

Romans 1:19-20 states that the invisible spiritual things of God are clearly seen in the natural. And this is how it is.

The State of Michigan is shaped like a hand with the location of Detroit at the base of the thumb. Biblically, the defeated warriors had their thumbs cut off so that they could no longer hold their swords and fight.

The thumb was also where the leprous were anointed for healing and the priests were anointed for the work of God. Correlating the map of Detroit with the hand, the removal of the thumb would be at the location of Woodward Avenue.

However, the applying of pressure at the base of the thumb (where Detroit is located) promotes stronger contractions for the “birthing” process to bring forth that man-child.

In the rebuilding of a city for the work of God, we must follow the book of Nehemiah. As they began to rebuild the City of Jerusalem, the first Gate to be repaired was the Sheep Gate.

The Sheep Gate represents a place of sacrifice and prayer.

In the Life Application Edition of the Bible, near page 800 (depending on the edition) is a map of the City of Jerusalem during the days of Nehemiah.

The shape of Nehemiah’s Jerusalem is the exact shape as the Heart (Hart) of the City of Detroit. The heart of the city would begin at Hart’s Plaza downtown and extend north along the Lodge (route 10) to Eight Mile Road and East to I-75 and South to the Ren-Cen (which means re-birth.)

Near the intersection of Eight Mile and the Lodge is the Worship Center of the Salvation Army building. This is the corresponding location of the Old Gate in the City of Jerusalem.

The shape of this area is the shape of a womb. The Word (sperma) of God needs a ‘womb’ to impregnate. At the base of this womb is the tunnel (birth canal). This birth canal extends through the waters of the Detroit River, which is at the junction of Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie and into Canada.

As you view the map of Ontario, Canada and continue to follow this “birthing process”, the continuation of this line will travel through the City of Windsor to the City of Harrow. This required “cutting of the flesh” would thereby circumcise the Province of Ontario, Canada.

Every major move of God requires the removal of the flesh. Before the children of Israel could cross the Jordan River to enter the promised land of Canaan, all of them were circumcised (Joshua 5:2-5).

As you continue reading Joshua chapter 5, please notice that Joshua 5:6 reminds us that the children of Israel were in the wilderness for forty (40) years. After the Six Day War, Israel again became a nation in 1967. Forty (40) years ago in the year 1967, the people in Detroit had their riots. Detroit has been in the wilderness for the forty years from 1967-2007.

All that I was shown and am writing is from the Holy Spirit.

THIS IS THE YEAR AND DETROIT IS THE PLACE. HE SHALL BRING FORTH A PEOPLE, A REMNANT, THAT BECOME HIS BRIDE. AND IT WILL BE DONE BY A MOVE OF GOD THROUGH PRAYER AND UNITY.

Biblically, the wedding or marriage ring was placed on the thumb. That is where we are, and also who we are… His bride.

In order to prepare a womb must be ready to receive and that maturity requires menses (bloodshed). For years, innocent blood has been shed. So much blood was shed that Michigan named a river “The Rouge” (which means red.)

Detroit was known as a city of murder. But it was only to prepare us to become a City of Light and Life and Hope.

Other similarities between the City of Detroit and Nehemiah’s Jerusalem are:

• The steps from the city of Jerusalem to the city of David are as the location of the steps at Hart’s Plaza.

• The Arabic-speaking community at I-75 and Seven Mile, just as the Arabic-speaking community on the Eastern banks of Jerusalem.

• The Water Gate of Jerusalem at the corresponding location of the Water Fountain of Hart’s Plaza.

• The location of the Horse Gate in Jerusalem at the corresponding location of the Horse Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds.

What better place for God to “show up and show off” as a Father than in the most Fatherless city in America. Here in Detroit; where the unemployment is the highest and foreclosures are the greatest.

Here is Detroit, which is a city built on mines of salt with a people that really love their God. This is really the place and you are the people that are the salt of the earth.

In my 27 years of ministering, I have never found one ‘homeless’ person that was not “churched” by one of the more than 20,000 ordained ministers of the City of Detroit.

And through the center of the City of Jerusalem is a main street that runs in a North-Northwest direction, just as Woodward Avenue does in Detroit.

The anointing oil was placed upon the thumb. May you be anointed as you pray this day for God’s plan in this City of Detroit.
